1 Corinthians--The Word of the Cross

The apostle Paul’s epistle to the Corinthian church covers many different theological and practical questions, but there is one central issue he is addressing: unity. The Corinthian church was fractured, and the chief reason was pride. This pride manifested itself in a skewed view of the gospel, which led to sinful attitudes about things such as wisdom, sexual wholeness, and worship, and also a misuse of their spiritual gifts. At the heart of this book is the reality of the cross and resurrection. Paul admonishes this church to return to the logic and pattern of the gospel, so that pride is replaced with servant-hearted love and unity.

Casual attire is appropriate at Christ Community Church. Some people wear suits; others wear jeans. Please dress comfortably and remember that we gather on Sundays to worship God together with everything we have.

What about children?

There are many opportunities for your child on Sunday morning. Our staff members and volunteers are well trained, and we thoroughly investigate the background of those working with children. For a complete view of our ministries to children, click here. Our youth group, designed for children beyond 5th grade, meets most Sunday evenings and has frequent events, parties and retreats.

How long does the service last?

Our worship service normally lasts for an hour and fifteen minutes. On the first and third Sundays of each month we observe the Lord's Supper together, and this can add a few minutes to the service time.
