Re: COVID-19 Worship Update
On September 25, 2020, Governor DeSantis released an Executive Order initiating Phase 3 of the “Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step Plan for Florida’s Recovery.” Since that time, Christ Community Church staff and session have been assessing what this change means for our congregation as we continue to worship in-person and online. After thoughtful consideration, we have decided, at this time, to not change any of our current practices concerning Sunday morning worship.
We are living and serving during unprecedented times, and we ask for grace as we navigate such difficult decisions. Over the past several weeks we have eased into a more full Sunday morning gathering, including increased singing and liturgy, children’s programming, and resuming the printing of bulletins. We will continue to evaluate our time together as we live out our mission to love God, love people, and love Gainesville.
We do want to pursue life with you in spite of these challenges, and we are actively coordinating community groups to best meet the desires of our congregation. Depending on your needs and comfort level, we have groups meeting in-person, online, outside, in-home, etc. Please contact the church office if we can help get you connected. Also, if you are interested in serving or volunteering on Sunday mornings (greeting, children’s ministry, worship) or helping with Middle School or High School Youth, please let us know.
Sunday Mornings at CCC:
offering two services on Sunday mornings (9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.),
recording and live-streaming our 10:45 a.m. service,
rearranging the sanctuary to accommodate social distancing,
strongly urging the use of face masks,
increasing the availability of hand sanitizers,
opening doors to increase ventilation and providing extensive patio seating,
documenting where individuals and families are seated,
cleaning and sanitizing between services, and
eliminating hospitality foods and beverages.
Additionally, our children’s ministry is now open. Please visit https://cccgainesville.com/connect/children for more information.
If you are unable or do not feel comfortable attending a worship service, please continue to worship with us online. Our deacons are eager to assist anyone in need and have offered to distribute communion elements to anyone worshiping at home. Should you have any questions or if we can help serve you or your family in some way, please let us know.
Bulletins are also available at cccgainesville.com
Tithes and offerings will not be passed; instead, baskets will be placed in the sanctuary for giving. You may also continue to give electronically.
We want to join in the holy sacrament of communion. Therefore, prepackaged communion elements will be placed on chairs. If you need an extra communion package, it will be handed out prior to beginning the Lord's Supper. We are also able to deliver the communion elements or arrange for them to be picked up. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
