Defining Moments is a two-year strategic giving initiative for the future of Christ Community Church and the kingdom in Gainesville. We plan to develop the rest of our property and to build an addition to our current building. We want to create a space for others to be invited to Christ’s banquet while also holding on to the distinctives that have made Christ Community such a beautiful place to belong.

Update on Defining Moments:

Construction continues to move forward throughout the new building! In the sanctuary, the acoustical panels and lighting are fully installed, painting is complete, and the mechanical contractor is installing grilles and diffusers. This week, carpet tile is also expected to be laid in the sound booth and the room off the stage.

Elsewhere, lighting has been installed in the main lobby ceiling grid, tile work has been extended to the new double doors, and all glass and doors are now in place. Grilles and diffusers are being installed in the lobby as well. We’re looking forward to seeing the painting wrap up in the main lobby, office spaces, and education areas, with plumbing fixtures on site and ready to be installed.

Outside, work continues on the trim and soffits, along with carpentry around the steel I-beams on the front porch. Landscaping is also taking shape as sod is laid around the building.

We are still awaiting semi-permanent power, which will allow us to energize the main portion of the new building. We’re hopeful an inspector will be out this week to approve this next important step. We’re grateful for the continued progress and excited to see everything coming together!

Defining Moments Stories

Expanding Our Facilities

Not only are we making room for the growth we’ve experienced over the past several years, but we are building something for generations to come. We’ve been intentional about designing a space that suits us in a unique way and fits this vision for what we are becoming. Download our digital booklet to learn more.

An Addition

Our consultants and design team have provided a solution for our growth that will not require us to move out of our current facilities or interrupt weekly worship services. This addition will also allow us to develop the second half of our property.

Room for Hospitality

We long to create room for hospitality. An expanded lobby and patio will create ample space to gather, while additional bathrooms, meeting space for adults and children's check-in areas will facilitate more possibilities for connection.

A Sanctuary

The addition includes a 600-seat sanctuary. When we first developed our property, we constructed a large room that was deliberately multi-purpose. This space, where we have worshipped each Sunday since 2010, can now be designated as multi-purpose.

Get Involved

We hope that this spring will be a time of spiritual renewal for Christ Community Church. With God's help, we will continue to grow through this initiative. These are ways to engage with Defining Moments:

Pray

Leadership has been praying over this for many months, and we ask everyone to join us in seeking God's face. The campaign booklet provides prayer prompts for each week.

Make a Commitment

Defining Moments is a two-year commitment, with Commitment Sunday being February 25th 2024. You can join in any time! Commitment Cards are available in the foyer and at the church office, or online here:

Envision

From January 21 to February 25, we had a sermon series on "Feasting with Jesus." These weeks helped illustrate the need and opportunity that we have as a church in this defining moment. Explore the series here.

Contribute

Everyone is encouraged to give their first defining Moments gift towards this project on Celebration Sunday, March 10th. We encourage making gifts directly to the church to avoid fees (see information on ways to give), but you may also give online. Please write "Defining Moments" on the memo line of checks or bill pay. For Paypal, please email us to let us know so we can designate the gift approporiately.

Thank you for partnering with us! Soli Deo Gloria!
